About Us

Android is the global leading mobile platform that everyone is talking about. Rocketing from the market underdog position in 2008 to its present position as undisputed leader of the entire sector, Android has been one of Google’s greatest success stories.
What began as a smart phone platform has now made its way to tablets and, even, notebook computers. Android continues to gain traction in both consumer and enterprise applications.
Like its industry counterpart, iOS, the Android platform has realized great success through the development of a thriving developer community that creates a multitude of addon applications for Android. To date, Android developers have created over 300,000 applications for the platform. That number continues to grow as alternative sources, like Amazon, get on board with Android application distribution.
Between Q1 and Q2 of 2011, the demand for Android developers exploded by over 20 percent. Developers with Android skills are at the gates of a new opportunity in the technology sector.
GSTF’s Android Development Chapter aims to:
- Advance Android development through industry development initiatives
- Promote and evolve a Common Body of Knowledge for Android Development
- Foster the advancement and competency of Android developers through professional development activities
- Validate Android qualifications and certify professional development skills for those pursuing higher qualifications in the industry
